Shoppers are being warned about using their phone in the supermarket as experts say it's the "height of bad manners".
World-famous company Debrett's London is urging people to avoid making or taking calls whilst in the supermarket as it's rude, especially while at the checkout.
They say ignoring the sales assistant while you chat on the phone indicates you are treating them as a "mere functionary."
Debrett's have put together a list of 'golden rules for supermarket shoppers' and have advised shoppers to "always put your phone away" when you're at the checkout, the Mirror reports.
The etiquette experts at Debrett's say supermarkets are full of other people and we need to ensure we are aware of our surroundings as it will make the weekly shop a much more positive experience.
