A novel way to attract some Star Wars tourism!
A road in Co. Donegal has officially been renamed R2D2 to recognise the fact that some scenes from the most recent Star Wars film were shot there.
The road was originally called R242, but local councillor Jack Murray decided a change was in order.
He has told Highland Radio that he made the suggestion in order to encourage Star Wars fans to visit Inishowen:
"We want to make a significant legacy in the Inishowen area that Star Wars fans can come and visit. I think the R2D2 is a very novel, catchy way...it stands out as a road sign now where people can come and get their photo taken."

Education Minister Joe McHugh has officially opened the road and has also launched the May the Fourth festival that will take place in the area from May 3rd to 5th.
