A couple in Co. Westmeath say their family home was listed as a hotel on booking.com.

Rebecca and Michael McDonnell, were told by a neighbour earlier this month that their home was featured on the website as a the 'Kinnegad Corner Hotel' - a 2-star hotel with room service.

A week later the first 'guest' arrived at their door expecting accommodation for the night.

In total, 11 people had turned up to the house since the beginning of October.

These included two families of four and a couple celebrating their anniversary.

Rebecca told the Journal, “The hotel itself doesn’t actually exist. The rooms in the images aren’t… they’re not the rooms of my dad’s house. So they’re just from some random place.”

A Google reverse image search of the some of the pictures showed some results from a hotel in Perth, Australia, that is also listed on Booking.com.

The couple said they reported it to booking.com, as they were worried it could be part of a scam.

The listing has since been removed and Booking.com has apologised.
