''I am so gutted that it won't be a surprise to my partner or dad''.
For many brides the dress is an incredibly important part of the big day, which is why finding the right one can prove very stressful.
And once the perfect dress has been acquired, it is of course a tradition to keep it hidden from the eyes of the groom until the march down the aisle.
But the highly anticipated reveal was ruined for one bride after her bridesmaid did something cruel, weeks before the wedding.
Taking to Mumsnet, the disgruntled bride, revealed that during one of her final dress fittings, her friend had secretly snapped a photo of her in the dress and posted it on Facebook for all to see.
She'd even tagged the groom just to ensure he'd definitely see it.
The bride-to-be was left feeling "gutted" after discovering the post had been online for an hour or two and asked her friend to take it down.
But the bridesmaid didn't think she'd done anything wrong.
So as is customary these days, the woman turned to the internet for advice:
"I know I probably am being unreasonable but just wanted to hear other opinions on whether you would be sad about it or if I just need to get a grip!" She wrote.
"Getting married soon and after trying on a lot of different dresses I finally found the one, something I never thought I would due to being very body conscious.
"Went back for a final fitting at the weekend and took one of my bridesmaids as she wanted to see.
"After finishing the appointment and getting home, I saw that she had posted a photo of me in the dress on Facebook and tagged my partner in it saying she bets he couldn't wait to marry me and how lovely my dress is. When I asked her to remove it, her response was 'Doesn't matter if he's seen it, he's a man so he will have forgotten what it looks like in five minutes time'.
"My dad had also seen it as well and it was going to be a surprise for him on the day too."
She added: "I just don't know what to do or how to feel! I am so gutted that it won't be a surprise to my partner or dad. She knew how much that meant to me and the only thing I had asked for was that details of how I will look on the day were kept a surprise.
"The dress is now fully paid for and I don't have time to get another one and do all the alterations etc. Someone tell me I will stop feeling like this soon."
Fellow Mumsnet users were quick to share their anger:
One person commented: "I would be furious! I'd be seriously considering if she would be coming to the wedding!"
Another said: "Sack the bridesmaid! Don't worry, your dress will look different when your hair and makeup are done etc. Try not to let it spoil the day."
A third added: "She a massive b**** or a complete idiot, I'd be furious and you are not unreasonable in the slightest! Did she take it down? If not report the image."
However there were some who didn't think it was a big deal.
A different user responded saying: "It doesn't matter in the long run."
