Desperate times call for desperate measures
One man in China has taken drastic action to avoid his big day.
Mr Chen, was certainly not feeling the love with his girlfriend and decided to turn to crime to get out of it.
Chen knew that his girlfriend wouldn't be happy with him if she found out he had been convicted of a crime, so he went into a dance studio in Shanghai and allegedly stole a speaker.
Police tracked him down alter same day as the alleged theft and arrested him.
They couldn't believe when Mr Chen told them why he stole the bluetooth device, worth around £220 (€260).
He told officers at Xinhua Road Police Station:
"My girlfriend wants to marry me, but I don't want to marry her. I knew I would be caught. I actually wanted to walk away, but I was angry."
He confessed to taking the speaker and said that he deliberately targeted the particular device because he knew it wouldn't cost the owner too much money.
The alleged thief remains in custody however it's reported that he won't spend much longer for the minor offence.
Mr Chen was hoping that his other half was going to be disappointed in the arrest and be so upset that she wouldn't want to marry. It's unclear what has resulted from the incident.
