If you were handed $155 million a full size replica of the Titanic is probably the last thing you would blow it on.

One theme park is China has decided to do just that, in a big to attract news tourists to the area.

In an attempt to recreate the ‘luxury and grandeur’ of the Titanic with their very own giant liner.

The park is located in Suining, Sichuan Province and construction began in 2014 along with a replica of the Southampton dock that the Titanic sailed from in 1912.

One of the investors Su Shaojun, has said that the attraction will bring between 2-5 million visitors from around the world each year.

According to the South China Morning Post, the idea has received backlash on Chinese social media.

With people saying that it is an attempt to make money from one of history's most famous disasters.

A weibo user said:

"Replicating a ship from a deadly shipwreck, what an ‘interesting’ business plan"

Ladbible reports that Project Manager Xu Junnian, said:

"We’ve finished the construction of the main deck, with only two-and-a-half floors on top of the deck unfinished,"

The replica is set to open at the end of this year.
