Did it work though?

A man who failed the driver theory test a staggering 27 times eventually paid an impersonator almost €600 to do it for him.

31-year-old Sujon Miah from Gloucester in the UK couldn't face seeing the dreaded 'Fail' sign on yet another test. So, he paid an impersonator £500 (about €580) to sit the test for him in November 2018, according to UNILAD.

Did it work though?

Apparently not. The staff at the theory test centre became suspicious when they realised Miah’s licence picture did not exactly match the person taking the test. Plus, they probably knew his face very well from his previous attempts.

They challenged the impersonator on the day and intercepted Miah’s genius plot.

However it didn't stop him from giving it another go. Miah tried to send a second impersonator into the theory test centre. This one managed to go unnoticed and passed the test, meaning Miah had finally accomplished the theory test step in getting his driver licence.

That pass though was later revoked when the truth came out. Miah's case eventually went to court and in an interview, the 31-year-old admitted he had shelled out £500 for someone else to take the test.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of making or supplying articles for use in fraud for a driving theory test by supplying his provisional driving licence to an impersonator to carry out a test in his behalf.

Miah was given a 14-month suspended sentence and a 200-hour unpaid work order. The court also ordered him to pay £400 court costs and a victim surcharge.
