New Zealand's bomb squad was yesterday called to a chip factory after a suspicious looking potato turned out to be a grenade.
It had been dug up with the harvest in the north of the country.
The weapon was initially dropped into a delivery area with 100,000 potatoes when a worker spotted it.
A closer look raised the suspicions of some staff, who decided to evacuate the area and call for help.
Speaking to Stuff, Operations Manager Roland Spitaels said:
“It looked very much like a muddy potato originally."
“The guys were really calm and collected and they reacted in an extremely professional manner”
Apparently it's the first time in the factory's 30 year history that a weapon has been found.
