Members of the US Space Force are going to be known as "Guardians".
The military service has tweeted the name connects its heritage and culture to the important mission it executes.
Director of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy film, James Gunn, has criticised US Vice President Mike Pence, who made the announcement.
And naturally, Twitter is having a field day ...
For those of you who still haven't heard, after Trump's @SpaceForceDoD decided to adopt the Star Trek Starfleet Command logo, now, workers in Space Force will be known as #GUARDIANS of the galaxy. You can't make this stuff up.#SpaceForce #StarTrekhttps://t.co/vFST00YQUH pic.twitter.com/NMkGL8imM6
