The REM hit is sure to get the tears flowing.

Usually when you feel a certain mood, you've some go-to tunes.

Yano, if you're heading out for the night, you might get ready to dance bops, or even classic pop bops.

But what about for the days when you're just feeling down, and you just want to let it all out.

Well, now we've a list of what are apparently the top songs to have a good cry to.

According to a recent study of 2,000 people, REM's 'Everybody Hurts' is the ultimate tear-jerker.

In the number 2 spot is Sinead O Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.

Here's the other songs to make the top 10:

  3. Eric Clapton – Tears in Heaven
  4. Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You
  5. The Beatles – Yesterday
  6. Adele – Someone Like You
  7. Celine Dion – My Heart Will Go On
  8. Roy Orbison – Crying
  9. Eric Carmen – All by Myself
  10. Robbie Williams - Angels

According to the research reported by SWNS Digital, almost half of respondents believe a song can have a huge impact on their mood.

On the other end of the spectrum, the songs to top the happiest tunes list included Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, ‘Dancing Queen’ by ABBA and ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and The Waves .

And if you're looking for some motivation, the study points to listening to Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’, ‘Eye of The Tiger’ by Survivor and Elton John’s singalong anthem ‘I’m Still Standing’.
