A student in the UK has to sleep for up to three weeks at a time. It's because of a rare condition she has called 'sleeping beauty syndrome'.
Rhoda Rodriguez-Diaz suffers with the rare condition which has left her sleeping for up to three weeks. She only wakes up to eat junk food, drink and go to the toilet.
Rhoda told Metro that "life goes on whilst I’m sleeping".
"Reality hits me when I wake up and realise I’ve missed like a week of my life".
"I feel a huge setback when it does happen. I miss out on so much. That’s the hardest part of it".
"It’s hard to explain to people where I have been. Because it’s so rare a lot of people struggle to understand".
Her condition, called Kleine-Levin Syndrome, is so severe that she was once kicked out of college for falling asleep during exams.
She was dismissed from De Montfort University in Leicester last year after missing some college deadlines and some of her exams because of her condition.
She has since been diagnosed with the condition by her GP and the university have allowed her to resit her second year.
During her nap breaks, she typically snacks on junk food, causing her to put on weight.
People with Kleine-Levin Syndrome often grow out of it and Rhoda hopes the same happens in her case:
"‘This is just a hiccup in my life and I am just waiting until it fades out".
