Cant sleep at night because of the hot weather? Here's a few tips...

So many people complain about not sleeping during the hot weather. But nobody has any solutions, until now.

Ireland is expecting a sustained period of hot weather over the next couple of days which has led to warnings to keep children inside, keep pets cool and layer on the sunscreen.

Experts say the best temperature for people to sleep at is between 15-20°C. With temperatures set to soar over the next couple of days, here's some quick tips to stay cool during the night.

  1. Don't sleep naked- This is the worst thing you can do. Instead, wear cotton pajamas to allow your skin to breath and soak up all that moisture.
  2. Rice in a sock- yes, you read that right. Throw rice into a sock, place it in the freezer during the day, and use it  like a hot water bottle during the night. It'll stay cold a lot longer than you would think.
  3. Pop in the shower and make it cold- Doesn't sound ideal, but if it helps you sleep, you'll thank me! Hopefully you dose off just before your body returns to normal temperature.
  4. Sleep downstairs- Hot air rises! It makes sense. Move that mattress downstairs and get that good nights sleep you've been looking for.
