"We never forced customers to weigh themselves,"
A restaurant in China has had to apologise after it asked customers to weigh themselves to determine what they should order.
Chuiyan Fried Beef located in the Hunan province had weighing scales at its entrance for customers to weigh themselves.
This follows the announcement from President Xi Jinping's call for the country to reduce its food waste.
The restaurant had a guide placed beside the scales suggesting food selections for people of various weights.
They have since apologise on Weibo for any offense caused by the programme.
According to UPI.com, the restaurant stated :
"Our intention was to advocate not wasting food and for people to order in a healthy way,"
"We never forced customers to weigh themselves,"
Although, President for the chain said the scales would remain in place but customers are not required to weigh themselves.
