Seems a bit harsh?
A woman faces two years in prison for calling her ex-husband an 'idiot' on Facebook.
55 year-old Laleh Shahravesh from London was arrested at a Dubai airport after flying there to attend her former husband's funeral.
She faces a jail sentence over two Facebook comments she posted on pictures of her husband remarrying back in 2016.
Ms Shahravesh was married to her ex-husband for 18 years. During that time, she lived in the United Arab Emirates for eight months, BBC reports.
When she returned to the UK with her daughter, her husband stayed in the UAE and the couple divorced.
Ms Shahravesh found out some time later that her husband was remarrying when she spotted the photos on Facebook.
She posted two comments in Farsi, including one that said:
"I hope you go under the ground you idiot. Damn you. You left me for this horse."
UAE's cyber-crime laws state a person can be jailed or fined for making defamatory statements on social media.
Because of those comments, she could be sentenced to up to two years in prison or fined £50,000.
That's despite fact that she wrote the Facebook posts while in the UK.
The organisation - Detained in Dubai - says her ex-husband's new wife reported the comments.
They added that Ms Shahravesh and her daughter flew to the UAE on March 10th to attend the funeral of their ex-husband and father, who had died of a heart attack.
Ms Shahravesh was arrested upon arrival and her 14-year-old daughter had to fly home on her own.
