Would you wanna double your pet?
We came across something today that made us do a double-take (excuse the pun).
From dogs and cats to horses and even ferrets, animal cloning is very much a booming business, apparently.
According to the Sunday Independent, one pet-cloning company in the US has months-long waiting lists.
That company is called Via Gen Pets and Equine, and says they're the "worldwide leader in cloning the animals we love".
Some people want to clone their pet because they may be sick and cloning would give them another almost identical pet.
Before a pet dies, a pet cloning company can take a biopsy, or tissue sample, and from that genetic material, a clone can be born to a surrogate mother pet.
It can even be done after a pet dies, as long as you act fast.
While others simply do it because they think their pet is just stunning (don't we all!)
The first dog was cloned back in 2005 by a South Korean company.
According to Via Gen, the cloned twin will share many of the key attributes of your current dog, often including intelligence, temperament and appearance.
They also say, "Dog cloning does not involve any changes to the genes of your dog. Cloned dogs live full, healthy and happy lives and are no more susceptible to health problems than any other dogs."
