Ever had that little mini panic attack when you get out of a taxi only to realise you've dropped your phone or keys on the floor?
Well just image that feeling, but only with your newborn child.
That's what happened to two parents in Germany who received the fright of their lives after accidentally forgetting their newborn in the taxi taking them home from hospital.
Hamburg police said on Monday that the couple took the baby’s one-year-old sibling out of the car, paid the driver and said goodbye — then realised someone was missing as the taxi pulled away.
The baby's father attempted to run the taxi down on foot, but failed to catch up. And to make matters worse, the driver was blissfully unaware of his sleeping passenger.
So he proceeded to park the taxi in an underground garage to go for lunch. It wasn’t until the driver picked up a fare at the airport that the underage passenger made its presence known.
The driver swiftly called police and after a quick check-up from an ambulance crew the baby and its grateful parents were reunited.
