Luckily we’ve no fines any more!
If you've ever rented a book from a library you'll know that not returning may land you a fine.
That's not the case for a book that has been return to a library 64 years after it had been taken.
The overdue book, The Hedge and the Horse, had been checked out Jan. 11, 1957.
According to UPI, the library got rid of its late fees in 2019.
If they were to charge for the late return of the book it would accumulate to over €2,000.
In an Instagram post The Monaghan Town Library said :
"A library book recently returned after 64 years to Monaghan Library!
Luckily we’ve no fines any more! See rule 2 re fines. Rule 3 on injuries to the poor books! Rule 4 is of particular interest these days too!!
I wonder had they 72 hours quarantine back then?"
It is still unclear about where the book had been for the last 64 years.
