NASA claimed that an asteroid dubbed 2018VP1 passed by our solar system on Monday(2nd November).
Although there was no chance of the asteroid colliding with Earth, Oreo didn't want to take any chances.
Instead, the cookie company built a doomsday vault to protect its famous biscuit recipe.
Oreo has released a statement saying:
“Although we were told asteroid 2018VP1 had virtually no chance of hitting earth, we couldn’t be sure. We built the Global OREO Vault into the permafrost of Svalbard, Norway with only one purpose: To make sure OREO cookies live on for generations to come.”
Incase you think that this vault is just some sort of marketing strategy, Oreo have released exact coordinates of the vault.
Oreo tweeted:

According to Noisetrend, the vault holds boxes of Oreo cookies stored in mylar which can withstand temperatures of -80 degrees to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and locks out moisture and air.
Oreo has since released a video showing the behind the scenes of building the vault.
