Nothing says 'Happy Ever After' like a noodle cake.
Noodles are a food with many uses and can be eaten any time of the day as a meal. However, noodle cake is definitely a first.
Instagram Chefs Tot Aw has used Mi Goreng noodles to recreate classic dishes and treats with a twist.
The Indonesian cake-makers are situated in Jakarta, where their tiered noodle cakes are a popular hit with the locals for weddings and birthdays. The original plan for the company was to become a doughnut company but they settled with their noodle creations.
Tot Aw AKA Totally Awesome uses between 14-17 packets of instant noodles in each of their culinary creations, which can feed up to 10 people.
The idea was inspired by Indonesian mum's who send lunchboxes of instant noodles which would then mould into the lunchbox shape.
Erwin, the cafe’s co-owner, spoke toThe Jakarta Post saying:
"The first [topping] is taken from our spicy rice menu, such as shredded chicken, salted cuttlefish and meatballs. The second topping is beef cornet and melted cheese."
The cafe is wants to realease new flavours of cake saying:
"We plan to make more Indonesian-flavored toppings such as chicken gulai , opor and rendang… we also have a noodle menu with cheese and chocolate toppings. So it’s really about food that is rarely found out there."
They’re also hoping to release a noodle-influenced dessert menu soon too.
