Well this is pretty damning research.
A new study claims that we'll spend about nine years of our lives looking at our phones. NINE. YEARS.
The survey was conducted by mobile comparison site WhistleOut. They found out that on average, people will spend 76,500 hours on their phone over the course of their life. That works out to be 8.74 years of your LIFE.
They came up with the figure by asking survey participants to share their daily phone use. That average number was 3.07 hours. The company then looked at the average age American's get their first smartphone, which is at aged 10.
The research published in UNILad also showed that millennials spend the most time scrolling. However, the survey didn’t look into the data for Gen Z, who could have topped the millennials when it comes to the ole screen time.
Millennials spent an average of 3.7 hours a days – or 50 days a year – on their phones. Yikes! Gen Xers were on their phones for an average of 3.07 hours a day while Boomers spent about 2.5 hours a day on theirs.
