Who needs this app?
A new dating app has thought of an interesting way to match potential compatible lovers through the memes they like.
If you’re sick of conventional dating apps such as Hinge, Bumble and Tinder and are looking for something unique, try ‘Schmooze’.
This app invites users to ‘swipe on memes, not people’, matching them by their sense of humour, according to a report.
The concept is simple, swipe right if you’re creasing hard or swipe left if you barely crack a smile and who knows, you might just meet your ideal mate.
Schmooze has a collection of 5,000 memes hand-selected by the squad of meme officers that help run the app.
The app’s creator is 27-year-old Vidya Madhavan, who said memes offer so much more than an image but an insight into who we are and what we find funny.
She added:
“Every generation has its own set of social and dating products.
There was Facebook back in the day when eHarmony and match.com was the thing.”
“Then came Instagram, which had Tinder, Bumble, Hinge as the user base. We want to be the dating app for the TikTok generation,” she added
She continued:
“I would love for everyone to give it a shot, because it’s a new concept
“Hopefully we can surprise, amaze and excite people a lot more. The memes are getting more exciting.”
Researchers found that because humour signals intelligence, it's considered a valuable trait among partners.
