A man has been jailed in the UK for over two-and-a-half years for stealing a pair of penguins, along with other exotic birds, and selling them on Facebook.
Bradley Tomes (25) received the sentence from Preston Crown Court for stealing birds worth over £53,000 (€58,900) plus the two penguins from South Lakes Safari Zoo, in Cumbria, during overnight burglaries in 2018.
A collector contacted the police after buying the penguins for nine-thousand pounds and finding that they were in poor health.
