A man in America has been arrested for using his Covid-19 relief money to buy a Lamborghini.
David Hines from Miami spent over $300,000 (€255,756) on a super-car,expensive clothes and jewellery after receiving nearly $4 million (€3.4 million) in loans.
The federal loads were intended to help Mr Hines' businesses during the pandemic. However, the 29-year-old could now be facing up to 70 years in prison for this actions.
Like thousands of business owners in USA during the Covid-19 crisis sought financial help from the federal Paycheck Proctection Program.
The loan program was created to help businesses retain employees during the pandemic.
According to IrishPost, Mr Hines requested a total of $13.5 million (€11.5 million) but only received the first three payments totalling to $3,984,557 (€3,396,923.30).
Chad Piotrowski, Mr Hines's lawyer said in a statement that his client was "a legitimate business owner who, like millions of Americans, suffered financially during the pandemic" and "is anxious to tell his side of the story when the time comes."
