A man has refused to change the name of his chipper- even though locals boycotted it because they found it offensive.
Recep Turhan opened Jack the Chipper in Greenwich following the success of his original Jack the Chipper in the East End area of Whitechapel.
History fans will know that Whitechapel is where notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper slayed his victims in 1888.
But those in Greenwhich locals did not take well to the name- stating that it glamorises violence towards women, as The Ripper infamously killed at least five females in London.
Owner of the Fish and Chip shop appeared on This Morning where he stated that there are no plans to rebrand.

"I don't think we will change the name because this is the history 160 years ago. I'm using only play on words for the name and nothing else.
"Some people hate it, but some people love it. They stop in the traffic and say they like it.
"The customers who actually come inside our shop always say, 'Ah yeah it's a play on words' and they've always loved our food and the friendly atmosphere that we bring to our customers."
