'Winter is Coming' and no we're not talking about Game Of Thrones
There's to be a dramatic drop in temperature this week compared to last week's high of 17 degrees.
Met Eireann has warned there'll be night-time lows of minus 1, with some wintry showers expected.
Forecaster Vincent O'Shea says some areas may even see snow:
''Upland areas such as Ulster and Connaught would be the areas most likely to get sleet and snow whilst the midlands and the Dublin area will escape with just frost,'' he said.
Here's the Met Eireann's forecast for the week:
TONIGHT - MONDAY 1ST APRIL
Tonight will be very cold, with clear spells and showers. Most of the showers will be in the western half of the country, some of hail and sleet, with a risk of thunder in Atlantic coastal areas. Some snow showers are possible also, mainly over high ground, but possibly at lower levels also, mainly in the northwest.
The east and southeast will be mainly dry. Minimum temperatures 0 to 4 Celsius, with some frost, especially in the north and east. Winds mostly light to moderate west to northwest, but strong along Atlantic coats.
TOMORROW - TUESDAY 2ND APRIL
Tuesday, will be a cold, blustery day, with sunny spells and showers, the showers mainly in the western half of the country in the morning, but becoming widespread during the day.
Some of the showers will be heavy and of hail, with wintry showers of sleet possible also.
There is a risk of snow showers over mountains and also a risk of thunder.
Maximum temperatures 5 to 9 Celsius, in mostly moderate to fresh and gusty west to northwest winds.
NATIONAL OUTLOOK
Cold and unsettled for the rest of the week, with a mix of bright spells and showers, some of them wintry.
Tuesday night: Cold, with further showers, some wintry. Most of the showers will be in Atlantic coastal counties, but they will occur in other parts also, especially in parts of the east and southeast. However, many areas will be dry, with clear spells. Minimum temperatures 0 to 4 Celsius, with a risk of frost in places sheltered from a moderate north to northwest wind. (The risk of frost is greatest in the east).
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: Cold, with a mix of sunny spells and showers, some heavy and of hail, with a continuing risk of thunder. Some of the showers may be wintry also, especially over high ground.
Thankfully according to the Met Eireann the forecast for the weekend looks brighter. Early indications suggest that temperatures will return close to normal and there will be a good deal of dry weather, with sunny spells,. But some further scattered showers also. Winds mostly moderate east to northeast.
