An Irish man is reliving the moment he discovered he left the immersion on for seven years.
I'm in complete meltdown...just realised our immersion has been ON FOR SEVEN YEARS !!! Lovely neighbour pointed it out. For an Irish person this is literally the worst thing that could ever happen !!!

It's every Irish person's worst nightmare.
Keith Doyle who is living in London, realised with the help of a neighbour that his immersion had been on since 2016.
"I was brought up in mortal fear of leaving the immersion on, it was the worst thing!
We moved into this house about seven years ago, I didn't even know we had an immersion.
There was a switch by the boiler and I thought it was keeping the boiler on, but one of the neighbours was in and he said your meter's quite high have you got your immersion on?
I said no we don't have one, and he said no you do."
That's when the penny dropped!
The legends on Irish Twitter have been busy replying to this one:
Think positive...at least the water should be hot by now ?☘?

Think you have to reapply for citizenship after something like that

I did that for 7hrs once, I thought the house was going to explode, took the taps ages to let the water out. I actually cried because of the noise the taps were making.
