Children are only allowed to visit Santa at Harrods in London if their parents spend over €2,000 in the shop.
The secret forest grotto at the luxury department store runs from November 15th until Christmas Eve and is described as a “snow-covered woodland filled with sparkling surprises,” with visitors being promised an exclusive gift from the main man.
However, only participants of the stores loyalty programme are eligible and they need to have spent around €2,300 in the store. Visiting the grotto also costs an additional €23 per child and it's already fully booked.
A spokesperson for Harrods told CNBC that the invitation system had been brought in to meet the high demand:
“Each year, we are overwhelmed by requests for this special experience, which we make every effort to facilitate.
“We care hugely about making a visit to the Grotto as magical as possible, therefore tickets are extremely limited.
"Unfortunately, we simply cannot meet the demand for places.”
