The debate has gone viral online.
One groom has gone viral after he revealed he kicked his sisters out of his wedding for breaking his 'no kids' rule.
The anonymous poster on Reddit explained that he and his wife wanted a child-free wedding. Most of the guests were fine with this rule, except for the groom's family.
After an initial argument in the beginning, the groom says they finally agreed not to bring the little ones. He stated that:
"After a lot of arguing and others getting involved. I stood my ground and they agreed to not bring kids."
However, on the day of his wedding two of his sisters arrived with their children. In the thread, he told the story of how that went down at the wedding:
"At the wedding no one brought kids. My parents and aunts were already there. But then I saw my 2 sisters arriving with their kids."
"I immediately went to ask what's the deal. They began arguing with me when I said I won't be letting them in with the kids. I saw My older sister came with her kids in the car I was pissed I asked why they decided to go against the rule and bring kids."
"My mom started yelling at me when I told my sisters they weren't allowed in with the kids. Everyone was yelling at me I had to get the security involved to make them leave. My parents and aunt left shortly after."
A few days after the wedding, he gathered the family for a meeting. It emerged that his mother had told his sisters to bring the kids and she'd "deal" with him on the day.
He goes on to say:
"My sisters argued with me and it turned out my mom told them to bring their kids and she'd deal with me later."
"I told them they could've arranged for a babysitter but my mom said they wanted to celebrate as a whole family. Said that I ruined my own wedding by making a scene."
His family also offered a novelty solution:
"They said the only way to fix it is to have another wedding/party and include everyone especially kids - I called them unreasonable."
He finished the post by saying he didn't think he was in the wrong and just wants his family to have some respect for his wife and her family.
The post has received over 3,000 replies on the platform with various views weighing in on the scenario.
"Your mum and sisters are amazingly horrible," one person wrote. "How is it that your mum basically contradicted your requests and your sisters don't care too?"
However, others were not so supportive saying the groom could have handled it better. One poster commented:
"Technically you're right here - they broke 'the rules.' But you still chose to escalate.
"You called security on your family and your own parents, aunt, and siblings basically fled your wedding because you were so mad and inflexible. IDK, I feel like this could have played out in so many different, less dramatic ways."
