You might want to have a look in the attic

A watch collector is appealing to people in Ireland to be on the lookout for rare watches that could be worth up to 1 million euro.

The Irish Daily Star reports Dutch collector, Nico van der Horst, is trying to track down rare George Daniels watches, which he thinks may be in the possession of someone in Ireland who may not realise their value.

Van der Horst, who has 1.1 million followers on YouTube, currently lives in Belfast.

Nico told the paper: “I know for a fact from sources that there are one or two watches by George Daniels somewhere on the island of Ireland."

"I have been trying to chase them down for the last four years but have been unsuccessful so far."

“George Daniels invented the co-axial escapement which revolutionised mechanical watchmaking and the invention is now being used by Omega in their highest grade watches"

“Each watch is unique and worth between €1.2 and €1.4 million and I am in the market for buying one or both of them “

So how do you know if you have one?

The watch-fluencer said “These watches usually have ‘Daniels’ written on the dial and there is a great collection of images on the George Daniels website to use as a reference for the models produced during his extraordinary career."

“Someone may have one of these watches at the back of a drawer somewhere and not even realise what they are worth.”

So you might want to have a look around the house!
