Ah. game night.
A chance to sit down with friends and family, and bond over a game of Scrabble, Monopoly or Cludoe.
But sometimes, a gaming session becomes so heated and fiery that by the end of the night, even the very name of the game becomes forbidden in the house.
Research in the US has found that one in five people have banned a game from games night because of the problem it's caused.
As you might imagine, Monopoly is up there with the most divisive, causing no shortage of arguments and unsportsmanlike behaviour.
44% of people had no choice but to axe Monopoly from the games night lineup, with Uno following closely behind on 37% over ructions that resulted in the competition getting a little too heated.
TOP FIVE MOST-FREQUENTLY BANNED GAMES
- Monopoly - 44%
- Uno - 37%
- Sorry! - 27%
- Scrabble - 25%
- Jenga - 24%
According SWNS, commonly cited antics in the study included someone quitting because they were losing (46%), someone accusing another player of cheating (44%), and two or more players getting into a scrap (44%).
As well as banning games, some people have even banned players from taking part all together!
