They said they're "a little ashamed" by the decision.
A family in Switzerland have named their baby after an internet company in exchange for 18 years of free Wi-Fi.
The anonymous couple in their 30s put the name 'Twifia' on the birth cert after Swiss internet provider Twifi advertised the offer on their website. Twifi stated that parents who named their son or daughter Twifius or Twifia could avail of the free WiFi until their child turns 18.
According to The Mirror, the parents have used the name as their child's second middle name. They've also claimed they will put the money that they would have spent on WiFi towards a saving account for their daughter.
The mother said that the name grew on her:
"For me, the name Twifia also stands for connection in this context. For an eternal bond.
"There are much worse names. And the more often we say 'Twifia', the heartier the name sounds."
The couple also said they feel a little ashamed by the decision:
"We want to remain anonymous to those around us because we don't want to justify ourselves."
"Because the accusation of having sold our child's name hits us very hard. We are also a little ashamed."
