It's the news all tea drinkers were waiting for. Your tea drinking habits are justified.
A new study has been carried out by Newcastle University into the habits of tea drinking.
According to the study, drinking tea could be helping the brains of older people function better.
Regular tea drinking was also shown in the study to give people a better attention span.
Pensioners who drank more than five cups of tea a day were said to have better brain function than those who don't.
Those that drink tea are said to have greater coordination and movement as well.
But it's not just the drinking that has the added benefit.
Research has also shown that the 'rituals' of making the tea can have benefits too.
So turning on the kettle, getting the tea bag ready etc is actually good for our health.
Next time you're offered a cup of tea by your elderly relative, bear this in mind.
They need to see if Barry or Lyon's has more of an effect next to put the debate to bed after all..
