The idea is to associate an 'unpleasant' feeling with your bad habit…
Been going over board with the chippers recently? Then there's a bizarre product out there just waiting to come to your assistance.
Amazon is now selling a bracelet that claims it'll help quell your fast food habit, by administering a 350-volt electric shock every time you get a kebab on the mind.
The shock can be self-administered, using the button the wristband, or it can be activated by an external sensor connected to the Pavlok smartphone app.
Your friends and family can also download the app to keep track of you, and if they see you've been eating too much can zap you remotely.
It doesn't just work for junk food, but can be used to break bad habits ranging from smoking and nail biting to oversleeping and skipping the gym, according to Pavlok.
"Pavlok allows you to speak your reptile brain's language by adding an unpleasant element (a safe and harmless 'zap' of electricity on your wrist) to what you have been taught to love (your nasty lingering habit)," the company states on its website.
"Quickly conditioning your mind to associate an 'unpleasant' feeling with your bad habit… and stopping it all together."
Inventor Maneesh Sethi told ABC News that while it isn't as powerful as a shock from a tazer, it still delivers enough voltage to make you jump.
"It feels like if you were to touch a doorknob after rubbing your socks on the carpet," he said.
