An actual farting competition is taking place next week.
The Indian state of Gujarat is holding its first farting contest next week. The tournament is looking for the person who can deliver the loudest, the longest and the most musical farts.
The competition is the brainchild of 48-year old Yatin Sangoi who says he's organising it to try end the shame around our bodily functions. He told Vice:
“I want to normalise the process of farting.
“Even 20-25 years back, people used to fart openly, but now they’ve become all sophisticated and consider it gross, often shamed for farting publicly, when even doctors will tell you that farting is one of the healthiest human body functions.”
The competition will be called What The Fart (WTF) and will see over 40 people try and claim the trophy. There'll also be cash prizes up for grabs at the contest ranging from 5,000 rupees (about €63) to 15,000 rupees (€190).
What the Fart takes place on Sunday 20th September in the city of Surat and the judges will be a mix of stand-up comedian and doctors.
