Dedicating your time to care for a plant can take both time and patience. Imagine finding out that the plant that you've looked after for years wasn't even alive.
One woman was delighted that she was able to maintain her plant for years without it dying or growing for that matter.
Caelie Wilkes was proud of her horticultural skills in maintaining the colour, shape and size of her little plant. She cared for the plant for two years before realising it was only plastic.
Caelie posted on her Facebook: "I was so proud of this plant. It was full, beautiful coloring, just an over all perfect plant. I had it up in my kitchen window. I had a watering plan for it, if someone else tried to water my succulent I would get so defensive because I just wanted to keep good care of it. I absolutely loved my succulent."
Thinking it was time to re-home the plant into a new container Caelie was surprised to find out the plant was fake. "I found the cutest vase, that suited it perfectly," she wrote.
The post has gone viral on Facebook with over 6,000 comments and shares. Despite her mistake being hilarious, people have had empathy for Caelie in the comments. One user said: "You're not alone. I've been there"
All though the plant was fake, Caelie's feelings for it were real.
