"She made a belly out of paste''.
An Argentinian woman has been caught attempting to smuggle a huge haul of cannabis, hidden in a fake baby bump, LadBible reports.
The woman was arrested by local police while travelling between Mendoza and Santa Cruz, along with a male travelling partner.
The alarm was raised when a small amount of marijuana was found in the man's luggage.
This then prompted the further searches in which the counterfeit baby bump was uncovered.
Argentina's Minister for Security, Patricia Bullrich, released photographs of the seizure on social media, remarking:
"She made a belly out of paste, hid 15 cannabis bricks inside it and faked a pregnancy before trying to take it from Mendoza to Santa Cruz.''
This and other recent unsuccessful attempts at smuggling highlight a bizarre new trend in drug trafficking.
Drug smugglers seem to be coming up with increasingly creative ways to try and get their stashes past border controls.
Another woman caught the attention of the police and the media recently when she was apprehended trying to transport a huge haul of cocaine in a wheelchair.
When Yoncela Stanley landed in the US, Customs and Border Protection officers noticed something amiss with the chair's cushion. They then decided to search her belongings after she started to present as unreasonably nervous.
The officers got a shock when they cut the cushion in question open. Much to there surprise found six bricks and two clear bags of cocaine concealed inside. The haul weighed in at an incredible 12.2kg. The haul would have had an estimated street value of around €425,000. She was arrested and later charged with federal narcotics smuggling.
Leon Hayward, acting director of field operations in New York, said at the commented:
"This latest seizure demonstrates the vigilance of our CBP officers, and their excellence in detecting those who would try to smuggle these illegal substances.
