A new study has shown that having sex with an ex is bad for your mood.
Scientists have said that keeping you ex on the "back burner" can lead to negative feelings about the other person.
During the pandemic there was a rise in the number of people restarting contact with their ex.
According to Tyla, the study was published in Cyberpsychology, Behaviour and Social Networking.
The study found that people people who were reconnecting with a ex can lead to negativity.
Researchers also found that of the 397 married people that were surveyed , 62% had someone on the "back burner" just in case.
Dr John Banas, from the University of Oklahoma in the US, said:
“If having ex-partner back burners cascades into increased communication, increased sexual activity, and bad feelings for the admirer, then those in committed relationships might wish to exercise greater caution before forming a back-burner relationship with an ex-partner.”
