If only we knew this when we were younger...

Remember when you were a kid and you were forced to eat your greens ?

Well, according to Doctor Jennifer Smith and a team of doctors from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine, you may have genetically hated vegetables.

According to the BBC, your dislike of certain vegetables could actually be due to your genes.

The experts claim that people who inherit two copies of a variant of the TAS2R38 gene are sensitive to a bitter tastes from certain chemicals.

People who inherit two copies of a variant of the gene (AVI) are not sensitive to tastes from certain chemicals, while those with both AVI and PAV get a bitter taste from the chemicals.

But then there's people with two copies of PAV, who find certain foods extremely bitter.

Smith said:

"You have to consider how things taste if you really want your patient to follow nutrition guidelines."

Now you have a real excuse for not eating your veg.
