The Future is here to help get you into shape
If you've gone down the route of downloading fitness apps and watching countless YouTube tutorials and still can't get yourself into shape, maybe this is the solution for you.
UWE Bristol have developed a humanoid robot which has been programmed to coach gym-goers while they use treadmills.
The robot has the ability to give runners voice prompts of encouragement as well as motivating gestures. On top of that, the humanoid robot can offer tips based on factors such as the user's fitness level, heart rate and personality type.
The robot has a high level of social intelligence for dealing with customers following training from a human fitness instructor on how best to encourage clients. The robot even knows when to dish out praise to help spur on runners during the tough moments of their workout.
