If you didn't pay into Dublin's New Year Celebration gig to ring in 2023, you were probably left disappointed for what the city had in store.
New Year's Celebrations in Dublin have been branded 'disappointing' and 'a sad reflection of the Capital', by one city heritage organisation.
In a social media post, Dublin Civic Trust highlighted the fact there were no public fireworks, and bridges were closed due to a ticketed event on the docklands.
This type of scene from #NYE 2017 should never be repeated in Dublin; citizens excluded from their own party. We must aim for inclusive celebrations, coordinated by all the relevant authorities to showcase our city to best advantage - by us, for us, and for visitors to our shores https://t.co/uiUzhtyxbc

The group - which usually works to raise awareness about Dublin’s architecture - took issue with the fact the celebrations were not free to the public.
It has called for future events in the capital to be 'proper civic, shared experiences'.
Meanwhile, this is what one TikToker saw as the New Year arrived:
