A man in Colorado has tried to blame a speeding ticket on his dog.
When stopped by police on Saturday, he attempted to swap places with his dog who was sitting beside him in the passenger seat.
Springfield Police Department reports the man who appeared intoxicated, attempted to run away after he was asked by an officer if he'd been drinking.
He was subsequently arrested about 20 metres from his car.
A police statement said:
“The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the SPD officer approached and watched the entire process,”
“The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.”
Meanwhile, the police department said the dog was let off with just a warning.
