"they can take care of their soul while protecting their bodies"
With the spread of Covid-19 continuing around the world and events being cancelled for safety, one priest has decided to take measures into his own hands.
A priest in Poland has begun holding 'drive-thru' confessions in his church car park.
The coronavirus has disrupted sermons at one of the most important dates in the calendar for Roman Catholics
Father Mateusz Kielarski in Warsaw sits in a chair wearing a protective mask in the car park and gives his parishioners absolution as they sit in their car.
Poland is one of Europe's most devout nations and often hold all night session for people who want to confess ahead of the Easter weekend.
Speaking to Reuters.com, the priest said “From the safety of their car, they can take care of their soul while protecting their bodies from germs in this special time,”
The priest claims that confessions through a car window can still be intimate.
“It can be experienced just as discretely, there is enough distance,” he said.
