Doctors in Taiwan have removed four bees living in a woman’s left eye.

According to Business Insider Singapore, the 29-year-old woman went to hospital last month complaining of severe pain in her eye.

Medical staff were shocked to discover the insects, which were later identified as sweat bees.

While they don't sting, they feed on sweat and tears from humans and animals.

It's believed the bees entered the woman's eye as she was removing weeds around a gravestone.

Doctors said her contact lenses may have saved her vision.
