Christmas dinner is 7% pricier this year

The cost of Christmas dinner has increased by 7 percent compared to last year.

Grocery price data from Kantar shows that the average cost of a Christmas dinner for four people will be €33.21 this year.

Brussels sprouts saw the largest increase jumping by 65 percent.

The price of Christmas pudding and parsnips also jumped by 59 percent and 50 percent respectively.

With grocery inflation now at a record 14.7 percent, the average annual grocery bill is set to rise from €7,037 to €8,071, an extra €1,034 a year.
