This isn't GOUDA news!

Bad news for anyone who suffers from hayfever and enjoys eating cheese.

Scientists have reason to believe that dairy products could actually make hay fever symptoms worse.

They say that dairy foods contain high levels of histamine that make some people itch and sneeze.

Experts say the longer a food ages or ferments, the higher the level of histamine, and the increased likelihood of impacting the allergy symptoms.

Most allergy sufferers take medication for their symptoms but never considered changing their diet.

"Some of those foods include aged dairy cheese, fermented dairy creams like soured cream, packaged meat and smoked fish.”

Researchers say sufferers should reduce histamine levels by avoiding dairy and to replace daily products with plant based foods and cheeses.

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is also a way to ease hay fever symptoms.
