You can't BRIE serious...

If you are planning to dig into a selection of cheese this Christmas, you might want to find a comfy seat.

A nutritionist has claimed that eating too much cheese can cause you to have a 'cheese coma'.

Founder of The Natural Balance, Kelly Mulhall has said that feeling drowsy after consuming cheese.

According to Tyla, Mulhall said:

"Unlike carbohydrates, these two macronutrients require a lot more energy for the body to break them down during digestion. That is why you fuller for longer if you eat a high protein meal."

"You feel tired because the body has got its hands full trying to secrete enough digestive enzymes and stomach acid to break down that wheel of melted camembert and quince jelly,"

"In order to denature (break down) the protein, it requires quite a bit of energy, which is moved away from other areas of the body, including the brain."

"It's possible that this can be one of the reasons you feel tired,"

"However it's worth noting that the evidence for the theory is limited.

"If you are experiencing bloating, gas and nausea alongside fatigue, it could be that your body is reacting to the dairy in an allergic way,"

Too simplify, when too much blood is going towards digestions then less blood flow is available for the rest of the body, causing sleepiness

While in most cases you may just need a nap, extreme tiredness could be a sign of lactose intolerance.
