A bride has called off her wedding after her guests refused to help fund the big day.

The woman had asked her guests to donate $1,500 (about €1300) each towards it. She took to Facebook to explain what had happened and said she couldn't understand why people wouldn't contribute.

The post is reportedly dated from 2018, according to Tyla.com. However, it's been recently going viral again thanks to Reddit.

She explains that she and her fiancé had saved up $15,000 (just over €13,000) for their wedding. However, they later decided to go for a more expensive affair that'd set them back $60,000 (€53,000).

"All we asked for was a little help from our friends and family to make it happen," she wrote. "How could we have OUR wedding that WE dreamed of without proper funding?"

The bride went on to explain that she did receive some initial donations from family members and her maid of honour. However, at the time they were sending invites out they only had eight donations.

She then set up a GoFundMe page which only made $250 (€220) and to make things even hairier, some of the initial donations were later retracted.

Her husband-to-be suggested they go and get married in Vegas instead but that proved to be the last straw.

In the end, even her own maid of honour didn't support her decisions. The bride explains that:

"Instead of sympathy, I was told that I was asking for way too much and I should stick to my budget".

What do you think? Would you help your friend out with the wedding of their dreams? Or was this a step too far?
