An Australian boy was caught eating two flies during a live television interview with his parents.

The interview, which was about the recent rainfall in Australia and how it was impacting the local communities has gone viral.

The Channel 10 programme spoke to a family of four, but one viewer noticed the eldest sons strange tongue action.

When the viewer zoomed in on the boys face, they noticed the boy eat two flies in seconds. The insect lands on the boy's face before he sticks out his tongue and eats the fly.

Seconds later, the boy sticks out his tongue to catch a second fly.

The video has been viewed by thousands of people around the world. Many have supported the boys actions, saying it's a nutritious food source when things are tough.

One person replied: "When you're in a drought, flies can be an important source of protein."

While another wrote: "How is it that flies can dodge a fast moving hand but they can't dodge a slow moving tongue?"

Either way the boy definitely wasn't hungry that day.
