Would you be any good at this game?
The world’s first balloon world cup has taken place in Spain. The inaugural event was organised by Barcelona centre-back (and husband of Shakira) Gerard Pique and internet celebrity Ibai Llanos.
The rules for the event are very straightforward – don’t let the balloon touch the floor.
To make the challenge harder for the competitors, the court is littered with obstacles, including sofas, tables, chairs, and of course, a CAR!
The Guardian reports that the tournament was made up of 32 teams. Peru and Germany battled it out in the final. Peru’s Francesco de la Cruz saw off Jan Spiess of Germany with a score of 6-2.
The balloon world cup came to life after siblings Antonio, Diego and Isabel Arrendondo posted a video playing the game on TikTok.
Antonio said:
“I woke up the next morning, and it was completely viral, like a million likes".
"Then after that, we just decided to keep playing and played more and more until one of our rounds got the attention of Ibai and Pique.”
