Do you think it was fair to kick him out?
Best man duties can be daunting.
There's massive pressure to keep the laughs coming in that all-important speech. However for one man, the speech couldn't have gone any worse.
In a story published in The Mirror, the man was actually asked to leave the wedding after a joke of his went flat.
The best man in question was the groom's bestie and said he's put in a lot of time and effort into prepping his speech for the big day. However, he was struggling to think of something to say about the bridesmaids on the day as he didn't know them well.
He asked his mates for ideas and they decided the best thing to do would be to say something unscripted as it could be either really funny or quite heartfelt.
As it turns out it was neither.
On the day, he decided on a whim to go down the comedy route, saying:
"Bridesmaids, I am a bit short of time here and I don't really know you all so I'd just like to say that five out of six of you look stunning today....figure it out amongst yourselves".
Unfortunately, that joke didn't get the reaction he'd hoped for. Instead, the room went silent. He explained:
"The room went dead and I knew I'd really f***ed up."
"One of them started crying and I didn't actually mean any of them, it was literally just nonsense. When I went to apologise, with out sounding mean, I realised that she isn't actually that good looking and was significantly less beautiful than the other bridesmaids."
"The bride came up to me and just said 'I think it's best you leave' and the groom just nodded behind her."
Do you think he went too far? Or was it a harmless joke?
